| PHOTO-MACHINING: ADVANTAGES |
PMP provides several advantages over conventional machining methods when modifying hard/brittle surfaces or when selectively removing coatings from these surfaces.
- PMP is an easier and faster alternative to most other precision machining methods. While benefits realized with PMP vary depending on what type of machining is required.
- PMP does not have the inherent limitations of ultrasonic milling on large and asymmetrical work pieces.
- More design features are possible since PMP reduces many machine limitations.

Advantages of PMP:
- Little need, if any, for special tooling fixtures or jigs.
- No expensive tools to wear out or replace.
- Little heat is generated eliminating the need for coolants.
- Less tendency for “chipped” edges.
- No pitting or stray markings.
- No need for a subsequent deburring step.
- Versatility of engraving contoured and interior surfaces.
- Quick turn-around between jobs.
- No micro-cracking.
