It’s our unique photoresist technology that imparts control to an automated powder blasting system. And because it’s a photographic process, we can achieve a high level of precision and accuracy.
Photo-Machining is used to selectively remove material from a variety of hard and brittle surfaces. Layered or coated substrate surfaces can be modified, patterned, drilled or channeled to achieve the desired end product. And a variety of surface finishes are possible.
Typical depth uniformities are within 8% to 10% of the etch depth across a 300mm diameter (i.e. 20µm depth controlled to within 2µm).
The Photo-Machining technique is shown here graphically in figures 1 & 2. The Phototool, created from a customer drawing is the only tooling required, making design changes simple, low cost and fast.
